Chris believes that CrossFit is yet another Jack LaLanne tradition. “Jack LaLanne was CrossFit before CrossFit was CrossFit. Jack was a gymnast. He was a bodybuilder and a strongman. That is CrossFit. It incorporates free weights, body weight exercises, high-intensity aerobic and anaerobic systems. I was a bodybuilder in college and several years thereafter until I found CrossFit. CrossFit is far more athletic than bodybuilding. I can tell you that before I found CrossFit, I did not believe I was capable of doing a thousand pull-ups and a thousand pushups. Now after CrossFitting for several years, I believe I will finish this workout. CrossFit has allowed me to become not only mentally but physically capable of attempting this workout.”

Chris will attempt the record with one modification. “Jack did dead-hang pull-ups but in CrossFit we do something called a Kipping pull-up . It’s more of a gymnastic style pull-up. It’s very dynamic. What I’m doing is something called a butterfly Kipping pull-up which is a step further in terms of how dynamic it is and what it looks like.”

The event is open to the public and takes place at LaLanne Fitness at 590 Howard Street in Downtown San Francisco at 8:30 PM this Saturday September 26.

Dushyant Patel, indicted late last week on 10 charges that include fraud and selling adulterated medical devices, has not been arrested. Authorities think he may have fled to his homeland in India and are seeking help from Interpol.

Heparin is blood thinner, and saline is used for hydration. Both help flush intravenous lines during cancer treatments, kidney dialysis and other procedures.

Syringes from AM2PAT were pulled from the market early last year, and the Angier plant shuttered after an outbreak of Serratia, a bacterial infection, hit patients in Colorado, Texas, Illinois, Florida and other states.

On Monday, prosecutors laid out a scheme before Judge Terrence Boyle in which the plant’s operators routinely failed to follow sterility rules to keep production running faster. The drugs were not produced at the plant, but were loaded into syringes there, then shipped.

The plant was subject to U.S. Food and Drug Administration requirements for its production. The syringes were supposed to be loaded in a “clean room,” with employees in caps and gowns and air carefully ventilated to keep germs from spreading.

A photograph entered into evidence Monday shows a “clean room” refreshed with a common window fan held together with duct tape. In another photo, women work on an assembly line under lamps, surrounded by what look like green plastic recycling bins.

Once the syringes were loaded with drugs, each batch was required to be held for two weeks, while employees tested for bacteria and other contaminants. If bacteria were cultured from the medicines, the whole batch should have been held back. That wasn’t happening, court documents show.

Batches of syringes went straight from the production line into the marketplace, with Sharma falsifying manufacturing dates to make it appear to regulators that requisite quality tests had been done. And when tests were done, results were ignored.

Even then, the drugs were shipped. “This is a horrific case,” said U.S. Attorney George Holding. “They were preying on the weakest of the weak.” The scheme led to bacterial infections in 200 to 300 patients, some of them resulting in spinal meningitis and permanent brain damages, prosecutors said.

Dusty Martin, a single father from Independence, Va., nearly lost his son a year ago after injecting him with the tainted heparin during a routine treatment for the 8-year-old’s hemophilia, a condition in which the blood fails to clot. Michael Martin recovered, but until his father got a letter last week from the U.S. attorney’s office in Raleigh telling him the infection was caused by a tainted syringe, Dusty Martin labored under the belief he had been careless and caused his son’s illness.

The ruling issued late Thursday was expected. The judge had said earlier she was troubled by the admissibility of the test results because prosecutors couldn’t conclusively tie them to Bonds.

The cousin whom Alex Rodriguez claims repeatedly injected him with a substance from the Dominican Republic has been found living in Miami. Yuri Sucart and his wife, Carmen, live in a south Miami home. Those at the home refused to comment …

The Olympia Expo begins on Friday, September 25th, opening at 10am, with early access at 9:30am to VIP and Platinum members. The expo is located at the Las Vegas Convention Center and ends Saturday at 5pm.

Friday, at 11am, the Figure, Fitness and Ms. Olympia prejuding will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center stage. On Friday at 7pm, the Men’s Prejudging and the Finals of the Fitness and Ms. Olympia will be held at the Orleans Arena.

Saturday, at 10:30am at the Las Vegas Convention Center, the Men’s 202lb and Under Showdown Prejudging will be held on the stage. At 7pm in the evening, the finals of the Figure Olympia , 202lb and Under Showdown, and the Mr. Olympia will be held at the Orleans Arena. Afterwards, at 11pm, the Olympia Victory Gala will be at the Mardi Gras Ballroom.

This year, Ben is going to try again by competing in the 2009 New York Pro bodybuilding contest. Forward Foods LLC, the maker of Detour energy bars, filed for bankruptcy protection on Tuesday after a tainted peanut recall by its supplier, Peanut Corp of America, forced the company to recall many of its own products on fears of possible salmonella poisoning.

Forward Foods, which makes high-protein, snack and meal replacement bars primarily under the Detour name, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Delaware, saying that a “significant” amount of its inventory must be condemned.

The company on Jan. 29 had voluntarily recalled all Detour bars that contained roasted peanuts from Peanut Corp.

A salmonella outbreak traced to one of Peanut Corp’s plants led to one of the biggest product recalls in U.S. history. The salmonella outbreak sickened 600 people, more than half of them children, and it may have killed nine people. The contamination has been traced to a Peanut Corp plant in Blakely, Georgia.

Sales of Detour products containing peanut product from Peanut Corp made up about 75 percent of Forward Foods’ protein bar sales, the company said in documents filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

In an interview with Evan Roberts and Kimberly Jones on WFAN yesterday to promote his book, Radomski said he was “not at all” surprised by Rodriguez’s admission of steroid use because “other players told me. I knew.” Radomski also said he did not believe that Rodriguez did not know what steroids he was taking. “The guys I know who played with him talked about him,” Radomski said. “He was a perfectionist … He’s very picky about everything. He likes to be in control. Why would he not be in control of this?”

recalled how he found a mailing receipt under his television in the summer for a package of drugs he sent to Clemens several years ago. He said he knew he had it and had been looking for it for quite some time before finding it, as well as “8 or 10″ receipts for other players.

Regarding whether Clemens committed perjury when he denied taking performance-enhancing drugs before Congress last year, Radomski said, “There’s so much more evidence that hasn’t been leaked out. Look at Miguel Tejada. He didn’t even fight it. They didn’t have much on him. Roger, they got so much, they can go after him for so many perjuries. He just hung himself. It’s all about ego.”
